Think About This!
Nov 21st, 2009 | By Chris Bailey | Category: OptimismYou are standing or sitting on a round planet.
The planet is orbiting about the sun and has been in that stable orbit for about 4.5 billion years.
The planet you are on is orbiting at approximately 93 million miles from the sun, the perfect distance so it is not too hot or too cold for our species.
The planet is also spinning on an axis, an axis tilted at exactly 23.5 degrees, exactly right for us in that any different degree of tilt would change the severity of our seasons and our ability to survive.
There is a thing called gravity, that we really don’t understand, but that keeps us from leaving the planet when we lift our feet off the ground.
We have an unusually thin atmosphere with the perfect amounts of oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, water vapor and other elements to make it perfect for human existence.
The human species was created and evolved on the planet.
Your great great great grandparents happened to meet and conceived your great great grandparents.
Your great great grandparents happened to meet and conceived your great grandparents.
Your great grandparents happened to meet and conceived your grandparents.
Your grandparents happened to meet and conceived your parents.
Your parents happened to meet and conceive at the right microsecond and with the right sperm cell to create you.
So here you are, standing or sitting, orbiting and spinning, tilting and gravitating.
Given the odds of your existence, HOW CAN YOU NOT BE AN OPTIMIST?
